OU’s Lyons and & OSU’s Kilfoyl Earn Big 12 Softball Honors for First Week of League Play

Oklahoma’s Grace Lyons (Player) and Oklahoma State’s Lexi Kilfoyl (Pitcher) procured Big 12 softball awards after leading their teams to sweeps during the first weekend of Conference play.

Lyons led the Sooners to three wins over Iowa State while hitting .625 with a pair of home runs and four RBIs. The 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee totaled 11 bases and four runs scored during the weekend while leading the league in on-base (.667) and slugging percentage (1.375). Lyons helped the Sooners improve to 30-1 on the year with 18 run-rule victories while outscoring opponents 278-27. This is the two-time Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year’s second weekly award.

Kilfoyl appeared in three of OSU’s four wins during the week as the Cowgirls bested North Texas and opened league play with a sweep of then-No. 20 Baylor. The senior right-hander maintained a 0.00 ERA and allowed only four hits and one walk while collecting 12 strikeouts (second in the Big 12 to teammate Kelly Maxwell’s 13) in 14.0 innings pitched. The Alabama transfer tallied a pair of wins and her second save of the season while holding opposing batters to a .085 average. This is Kilfoyl’s second weekly honor of the season and her career.
