OU’s Corley and OSU’s Zink Voted for Tennis POTW

Oklahoma’s Carmen Corley (women’s) and Oklahoma State’s Tyler Zink nabbed the Big 12 Tennis Players of the Week for the 10th week of the season.

Corley opened Conference play at home with a combined record of 4-0 in singles and doubles matches. The senior tallied two ranked wins with her doubles partner, Ivana Corley. The duo defeated Texas Tech’s pair of Avelina Sayfetdinova and Metka Komac (No. 77) 6-1 before collecting a 6-3 victory against TCU’s Yu-Chin Tsai and Helena Narmont (No. 43). Corley added two singles wins against TTU’s Cristina Tiglea (7-6 (6), 6-1) and TCU’s Destinee Martins (6-1, 6-1) to help the Sooners pick up their first two conference wins at home. It is her sixth career honor and her second of this season.

Zink finished the week 2-1 in singles play and picked up a ranked win over USC’s No. 33 ranked Stefan Dostanic in straight sets (7-6(5), 6-3). The senior claimed his second singles win of the week against UCLA’s Patrick Zahraj (6-3, 3-1 (ret.)). Zink then picked up his lone doubles victory of the week with teammate Chase Ferguson as they defeated Pepperdine’s No. 38 ranked duo of Daniel De Jonge and Tim Zeitvogel. It is the senior’s first career honor.
